What is a Hydrafacial booster?

A booster is a concentrated serum used to personalise a Hydrafacial around a particular concern. It is not simply 'more serum'. The point is to choose ingredients and a treatment pathway that make sense for what you want to improve – whether that is dehydration, dullness, congestion, uneven tone or visible signs of ageing.

Start with the concern, not the brand name

It is easy to choose a booster because you have seen it on social media. A better question is: what does your skin actually need today? Holmes of Beauty currently offers three concern-led choices: JLO BEAUTY for glow and hydration, Britenol for uneven tone and dark spots, and Murad Clarifying for oiliness and congestion. Professional menus can change, so availability should still be confirmed when booking.

If your skin looks dull and you want glow

Holmes of Beauty currently offers the JLO BEAUTY Booster, which Hydrafacial positions for dullness and tone. Its ingredient story includes niacinamide and hydrating components, so it is best thought of as a radiance and hydration-led option rather than a treatment for every pigmentation concern.

If dark spots and uneven tone are the concern

Britenol is Hydrafacial's own brightening booster. The current UK formula highlights alpha-arbutin, vitamin C and bearberry extract and is positioned for dark spots and uneven tone.

That does not mean every patch of pigmentation should automatically be treated with a brightening booster. Melasma in particular can be complex and is strongly influenced by light exposure and other triggers, so daily sun protection and a considered home routine matter just as much as an occasional facial.

If oiliness, blackheads or congestion are the problem

Murad Clarifying is designed for oiliness and congestion and contains salicylic acid plus green tea extract. Hydrafacial also combines clarifying protocols with blue LED in some treatment pathways. A small published study of a six-treatment clarifying series in adults with mild-to-moderate acne reported improvement in acne severity and skin appearance, although the study was small, open-label and involved a Hydrafacial employee among the authors.

If hydration or fine lines are the priority

Of the three boosters currently offered at Holmes of Beauty, JLO BEAUTY is the most naturally aligned with radiance and hydration. Better surface hydration can make fine dehydration lines look softer, but it is not a substitute for a targeted medical or injectable treatment and cannot promise to erase wrinkles.

If the real issue is an irritated or compromised skin barrier, more treatment is not always better. Your therapist may recommend simplifying your routine first.

Are boosters always worth adding?

No. If your main goal is a general cleanse, extraction and hydration refresh, you may not need a targeted booster at every visit. Boosters make most sense when there is a defined concern and the ingredients genuinely add something to the treatment plan.

At Holmes of Beauty, Platinum Hydrafacial includes a targeted booster. The current choices are JLO BEAUTY, Britenol and Murad Clarifying; availability should still be confirmed when booking because professional menus can change.
